Breathing: Control – Relax – Fun

By December 16, 2015 No Comments

Say, not sing, the alphabet– Abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz
See how many you can do on one breath. 234?? Work up to 678!
This one’s a fun challenge. After you master this, that troublesome long phrase in your song will be a piece of cake.

You’ve probably done deep breathing exercises. They are terrific for your health and are relaxing too. This time focus on the exhale; blow out all your air. And then some extra. Notice how you are working and toning your core muscles which are your singing muscles too.

Notice how deeply you inhale when you blow up balloons. Breathe low. I love the huge balloons from Publix or the Dollar Store. We play ‘balloon volleyball’ in our house. Our dog Sophie joins in and when she gets the balloon and pops it she wins!

How do you keep on top of your singing? If you need help with vocal issues or physical energy issues, don’t hesitate to reach out to me.
